5 Holiday Destinations
1. ANYER BEACH
It was in 2009 when I finished the national examination, my classmates and I were planning to have a farewell party by going somewhere fun. It had to be a perfect place because it was our last time as classmates, and it also had to be memorable. At last, we decided to go to Anyer beach for 3 days.
Unfortunately, most of my friends couldn't come and left only 14 of us out of 40. It was disappointing, though the plan had to work. So we planned the transportation and budgeting. We decided to search for a place to stay after we got there.
After all the needs were completed, on Friday morning we gathered at a restaurant in Bulungan, and then drove off to Anyer with 2 (two) of my friends' cars, and we were divided into 2 groups. It was a fun short driving to Anyer. We were all singing and laughing and sharing stories. The other car was left behind so my friends and I who were in the first car arrived at Anyer first. We actually stopped by at a market, a Sumedang Tofu stall, gas station, and also searched for some hotels to match the budget we already had, found one, but we still got there ahead of them. So it was a 2 hours ride.
We chose to stay at Marbella Hotel for 3 days. For the advantages, we got it for a quite cheap price. We got a rented apartment, and it was big enough to accommodate 14 people with 1 room, 1 bathroom, a quite wide living room, and a balcony with the pool side -- and a little bit of the beach -- view. It was air conditioned, equipped with the kitchen utensils.
And the beach, it was right beside the hotel so we could easily walk there only in a few minutes. There were a body board and banana boat rental stall, a tattoo maker, old ladies offering us to braid our hair, and a meat ball man. On the contrary, the beach was pretty isolated, yet, it made us free to do anything there.
The minuses were the hotel seemed like an isolated place. It was dark and quiet, even in daylight. It reminded of a haunted hotel in one of the horror movie I had watched. And the balcony was dirty because of the dust and the fallen leaves from the trees nearby.
Besides, it was the black colour of the beach sand that made me felt a little disappointed. It was dirty. And the people around were a little pushy though, so it was pretty disturbing.
In short, no matter what kind of disadvantages the place offered, I still had a good time with my friends.
2. CITRA CIKOPO RESORT, PUNCAK
Citra Cikopo Resort, Puncak, West Java, was one of the best resorts I've ever been to. Because of a business matter, my father stayed there for a while, and every weekend I visited him.
It wasn't hard to reach this place, because it wasn't that far from the freeway exit, and the signs eased us to get there. At night, the resorts lights and trees were visible from the street after the freeway exit, and it was beautiful.
By the time we enter the area of the resort, the atmosphere and the scenery were breathtaking.
The cottages were built of woods, designed well, and so comfortable. At my first visit, I stayed in a mountain view cottage. Clean white bed sheets, wooden floor, so comfortable. I slept in the second floor, and the bed was on the window corner overlooking to the mountain, so I could see the mountain lit by the houses' lamps there. The beauty was divine.
In the morning, I went to the restaurant for breakfast. Juices, cereals, and other breakfast foods were already served. The food was delicious. We could also order foods from the hotel's menu to be delivered to our cottage. There were some facilities, such as swimming pool, a gym club, a pool table, a music stage, a multi-purpose hall. Live music was always played at night during dinner time. They played any kinds of songs, traditional Indonesian songs, old Indonesian songs, and old western musics, etc.
The only flaws this place made were the swimming pool and the gym which lacked of maintenance, and there were a lot of beetles perching upon the bed and ceilings, and flying around the cottage.
The price was also a little bit expensive. But it was actually worth the view and the facilities you could get.
So, if the maintenance were enhanced a little bit more, the place would be a perfect place to be stayed at.
3. TAMAN MINI INDONESIA INDAH
On my 11th grade, my high school arranged a study tour program to visit Taman Mini Indonesia Indah. We went there from school by renting buses. Because it was a public school, it accommodated almost hundreds of students, so there were more than ten buses rented.
When we arrived, we formed a group according to our classes. We visited every traditional custom house in turns, and learnt their culture, history, their traditional wardrobe, and weapons.
The environment of the site was quiet and pretty clean. Not many vehicles passing by, but there were also groups of local tourists. A few stalls selling beverages and snacks were available at some spots to satisfy the thirst and hunger of the tourists.
The custom houses were taken care of well, and the replicas of the historical and cultural objects were complete enough.
The only insufficient matter of this place was its blazing hot sun light, and each house was faraway from another. It made us tired. And it also made us rent bicycles or take a shuttle bus.
If only there were more trees planted, Taman Mini would have more visitors.
4. RAGUNAN ZOO
Ragunan Zoo is located in Ragunan, South Jakarta. There is also Schmutzer Primate Centre, where we can see many kinds of primates there. It is called Schmutzer because it was built by the late Puck Schmutzer, an animal lover. Before she died, she asked her family to spread her ashes on the forests where the animals live, and to make this primate centre.
Ragunan Zoo and the Schmutzer Primate Centre are in two different places, but adjacent to each other. The zoo, which has already been there since I was so little, has a cheap entrance fee, and people always go there to spend their holiday, picnic, or just to see the animals.
It is always crowded by visitors, mostly on Sunday. No wonder why the area is always dirty with people's leftovers. They don't throw their trash away. It's such a shame.
The area is also crowded by so many hawkers. They sell cold beverages, snacks, or anything they can sell. So it makes the zoo even more crowded.
The Schmutzer is a lot cleaner, because the hygiene of the place is always maintained by the people who work there. Therefore, the entrance fee is a little more expensive.
No hawkers, there are signs that people aren't allowed to throw away their trash at random places.
But these zoos have the most strategic area. It is easy to reach. Now it becomes easier to reach by bus (Trans Jakarta), because one of the corridors is built and placed next to the zoo.
In short, if you want to visit the most reachable zoo, you can go to Ragunan zoo, which has the most strategic place compared to other zoos like Taman Safari.
5. FANTASY WORLD
My friends and I went to Fantasy World or Dunia Fantasi in Ancol a few years ago. We went there by bus.
The first entrance to Ancol costed only Rp 10.000,- per person, give or take a few thousands. Then the entrance to the Fantasy World costed a lot more. It was quite expensive that time, and now it costs more than Rp 200.000,- each person. Maybe it's because the safety level of the spacecraft rides has been enhanced.
The good things about Fantasy World are there are a lot of really fun spacecraft rides, beverages stalls, merchandise store, small restaurants, ice cream store, and many others.
The disadvantages are, everything that's sold inside the area of Fantasy World and Ancol is a lot more expensive than the outside. Then, the hygiene of the bathroom is not well maintained. So it stinks and dirty. The visitors are also slobs, they throw their junks not in the right place.
Even so, Fantasy World is a perfect place to freshen our minds from our busy daily activity.
